Nature Newsie is a volunteer-run community platform with nature at the core.

Here's what we do:

1. Offer a dedicated space for any community member to engage with local environmental activities, or even plan their own!

2. Help coordinate collaborative projects between local environmental organizations and showcase their meaningful work.
​​
3. Be a bridge between our many local organizations and you, the community.
​
4. Protect our local environment by documenting how nature connects us all.
Hi, I'm Wren Shay.

You can often find me taking pictures in nature, making excellent puns (and bad ones too), or simply enjoying the moment.
I frequently volunteer at local events focused on nature, sustainability, environmental science, and community knowledge sharing. I'm lucky to live in a city where environmental organizations are so passionate about what they do.

I have met so many amazing people with inspiring wisdom who work tirelessly to protect the environment and our connections with nature.

I learned about these individuals, groups, and organizations after entering the Environmental Technician Program at SLC and becoming active in my community. I’m glad I did, because I found what a lot of people look for, but also struggle to find:

A sense of belonging.

I created Nature Newsie to share that sense of belonging with you, and inspire hope in an empowered community.
